Position Summary:Incumbent perform daily detailed technical levels of green space and hardscape maintenance to ensure a high quality of landscape care within an assigned area of the campus landscape. The incumbent will operate and perform basic maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment. This position supports and participates in the snow and ice removal program.
Performs maintenance of trees up to 20 feet tall. (Arborists care for taller trees).
Landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units.
This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent.
- Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related to landscape maintenance.
- Working in a team to accomplish goals.
- Following set procedures and routines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or BS in Horticulture; Urban Forestry; Landscape Maintenance; or any related field.
- 2 or more years additional experience in commercial or institutional landscape care operations.
- Certification in operation of a variety of landscape equipment which could include forklifts, tractors, aerial lifts, etc.
- Ability to climb and work at various heights above ground using scaffolding or lift and bucket trucks.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Lift, carry and/or otherwise move up to 60 pounds in a routine, repetitive manner as needed.
- Bend, stoop, crawl, twist, dig, climb, and walk on a routine basis throughout the workday.
- Work routinely on uneven and slick surfaces.
- Work in confined space situations.
- Climb ladders of various heights on a routine basis.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while operating and working around various landscape equipment and performing landscape duties.
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to be available for on-call snow and ice clearance duties 24 hours a day during the winter season.
- Must possess a Commercial Pesticide Applicators Certification for the category of Ornamental/Landscape Herbicide Application or have the ability to obtain certification within the first six months of employment.
- Must possess: a valid motor vehicle operators license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.
